KECOSO Experience
August 13, 2020Scrabbling in Lusaka
August 16, 2020A day after I started calling Benard Amuke size yangu, I received a humbling and exciting invitation. A good number of us had infiltrated the #KEKOSO sports event in Kisii as ‘#mamlukis’ .
I was a debutant mercenary, eager to prove to my hirers that the size of the fight in this dog was not limited to the size of the dog, and when I survived decapitation in the hands of #Gitaton, I had huger motivation to honor the invite.
We left Kisii pretty late in the evening, #Jack_Ma and I (Makaa, is a nickname I hear he earned for his precision at picking the Makaa, blanks). We reached Oyugis town to a waiting double cab that drove us to The Farm.
A deliberately dim lit driveway reminiscent of a boulevard led up to a juvenile lawn. Though there wasn’t much the naked eye could see then, you couldn’t help but love the contrast the marigold flames from the bonfire cast against the ink black night. It beckoned at us, the flickering tongues of fire carrying with them the warmth of the host.
The other guest #Doreen_Inda had arrived. Dinner was set and we all sat around the fire, chewing on chicken and fish. Later we chewed music and lots of #Remmy_Martin. Then we chewed dance too.
Make no mistake, She -the host- has rich and versatile taste when it’s matters music. From #Faya_Tess to #Okatch, #LadysmithBlackMambazo to #Thecarpenters complete with moves to boot.
She opened the floor, or do I say lawn and we danced the evening away, clinging to #Remmy for dear life as she killed us with hilarious throw back stories of her childhood.
I hurled wood into the fire as many times as she threw us into fits of laughter that evening.
When beautiful #Miriam came by to clear our leftovers, She called out to her, breaking the news that the open pants she was rocking that day was picked by myself when we attended the last #ECASA a few months earlier. My chest heaves with pride when I remember that afternoon in #Lusaka. It was also spent shopping and snacking on a whole chicken while clutching onto vessels of honor. Taking terrible selfies and laughing at our lacking photography skills. #Sandoka was the pacesetter.
***
She effortlessly turns a simple visit into a memorable party. She is a #super_host. A fierce #opponent. A strikingly #beautiful lady; Millennials and generation Z wanamuonea tu kwa viusasa when it’s #curves and style. She is assertive, no pushover, no cry baby, no feminazi koso koso.
#Relatable with no airs. She’s comfortable just being her.
#Unapologetically #Wenwa.
Belated happy birthday #Doktari🤗
